step 2 stuff

sorry, haven't posted for so long. i'm stuck again. so after all my frustrations, i earned a usmle score of 244/99 and comlex score of 680/95. i destroyed the comlex, but only landed 85th percentile in the usmle. so, i gotta try a bit harder so i can land in a nice cushy allopathic program.

taking my usmle and comlex in july...step 2 coming soon.

I don't fucking get it.

I just took NBME form 3. Yes, they say it's the hardest form, but seriously? How the hell did I do so poor? Or rather, did I not improve at all for the last 3 weeks?! I don't get it!

Above is my initial diagnostic test. Not bad, 232 prediction. Only can go up from there, no?

Or maybe not...

I don't know how I did so poorly. Furthermore, I don't see how I've moved all my weak point bars to the FAR FAR right, and yet, my score doesn't improve!! In fact, it goes down!

Frustrating to no end. And just for reference, I score consistently above 70% on uworld. My culmulative average is 74%. I trend about 75%.

I don't get it.

Crew Cut

I always read about marrow expansion and erythropoiesis and how it has a "crew cut" on Xray. I never remembered what the picture had looked like from class, and I was always a little 'too busy' to look it up (read - too lazy).

Well, I finally did.

Definitely not similar to lytic bone lesions or 'punched out' holes in multiple myeloma. Why did I even think they looked similar...

BOOYA MOTHER FUCKER!

medicomento ECG!

Know what's wrong with this picture? Most people don't. And I've searched for how the anterior V leads are supposed to correspond to a NORMAL EKG, but Google Image Search can't find me for me!

This is NOT a normal EKG. It's quite abnormal. First off, the axis is completely left deviated. Probably about 30 degrees towards AVL. The anterior leads (V1-V6) look terrible. I'm not that great at reading EKG's, but I can tell that is an ugly V4 lead.

The reason this picture annoys me is because when I type in "normal EKG heart anatomy", this is the one and only picture that comes up! Shouldn't the picture be of the guy clutching his chest or looking like he is in pain? And this is from a spanish website. They are not known for their stoic characteristics!

Today I'm taking the USMLE Step 1 practice exam...wish me luck. I don't wanna get my hopes up, but I'm doing very well on them so far...

welcome!

well, after the encouragement several people, and mostly due to the fact i encounter hilarious things that I wish to share with my close friends that are not here with me, i've decided to open up another blog.

i had an old one from livejournal. which then took it's trip over to xanga. it's probably still there, but no need to dig up buried history! we're not history pirates, AARRRR we?

K, onto the shenanigans.

so after 25,000 characters (or words, i have no idea), word gives you a popup that says "There are too many spelling or grammatical errors in "micro block 2 review.docx" to continue displaying them. To check the spelling and grammar of this document, choose Spelling and Grammar from the Review tab." basically, they said i suck. see, i knew medical words weren't real words.
